Eagles want compensation for Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has long maintained a firm stance: losing key defender Marc Guehi would be unthinkable without a ready-made successor. That strategic puzzle now appears to be solved.
In a significant move, the Eagles have swooped to secure their long-term defensive answer, finalizing a deal with French club Toulouse for highly-rated teenage prospect Jaydee Canvot. The agreement, believed to be in the region of £23 million, signals a major investment in the future and a club-record sale for the Ligue 1 side.
The pursuit of the 19-year-old was fiercely competitive, with reported interest from Liverpool and a formal, though rejected, bid from Aston Villa. Yet it is Crystal Palace who have won the race for the promising Frenchman, who has rapidly cemented himself as a regular starter for Toulouse since the winter break, featuring in 20 league matches and earning four caps for France’s U20 side.
This acquisition not only breaks Toulouse’s transfer record but also provides Glasner with a tailored replacement should Guehi depart—a clear statement of intent from a club planning ambitiously for the seasons ahead.
