Crystal Palace want to sell Marc Guehi during the current transfer window with the club unwilling to let the defender run down the final 12 months of his deal.

Guehi’s contract at Palace expires next summer and the England international has not indicated a desire to extend.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have had significant bids for the centre-back turned down across the last 12 months, while Liverpool are the latest to explore a deal.

The latter are seeking a replacement for Jarell Quansah, who is joining Bayer Leverkusen in a £34m deal. Guehi is seen as an ideal replacement and boosts Liverpool’s homegrown quota, with the Reds hopeful a fee of around £30m will be enough to sign the 24-year-old.

However, Palace have set an asking price of around £50m for Guehi, according to talkSPORT.

Guehi is in no rush to decide his future and is understood to be willing to see out his contract at Selhurst Park.

The defender has become a regular in the England side and wants assurances over his minutes before committing to a transfer. Guehi does not want to risk his place in Thomas Tuchel’s plans ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

It casts doubt on potential moves to Liverpool or fellow suitors Arsenal, given the current centre-back options at each club. Palace’s preference is to sell the player now with the club keen to recoup a fee. Oliver Glasner’s side have opened talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal to sign Ivory Coast international Ousmane Diomande as a potential replacement.
