It has been obvious for some time that a host of players will leave Manchester City this summer. Kevin De Bruyne has already announced his departure from the club that will take place at the end of the season. But the possibility that more players will leave has always loomed large. City will have to sell players to cater for new arrivals. They won’t enter next season with a Chelsea-sized squad, that’s for certain.

Steve Kay has reported for Football Transfers that seven players could potentially leave Manchester City this summer. Kay names Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva and Jeremy Doku as players who could all leave City in the summer. The surprise name on that list is Jeremy Doku. Steve Kay further reports Doku is reportedly concerned that the arrival of Omar Marmoush could severely restrict his playing time.

Of all the players listed in Steve Kay’s report, Jeremy Doku is the surprise name on that list.  The Belgian winger is set to complete his second season at the club. He arrived from Rennes for a sizable transfer fee, and at his best, he adds a different dimension to City’s wide play. At his best, Doku is devastating; at his worst, he is frustrating. He does also suffer from injury issues from time to time. But it’s hard to see City selling the dazzling winger just yet. He’s a player with his best football in front of him and if can become a more consistent player he has the potential to be a world beater.

Steve Kay also reports that Jeremy Doku has become unsettled after Omar Marmoush’s arrival at the club. Perhaps that may change the equation. If a player wants to leave Manchester City they rarely keep a player at the club. The only exception to this rule in recent seasons is Bernardo Silva. But even then would City contemplate selling Jeremy Doku? I’m not so sure just yet.

There is no doubt that several players will depart Manchester City this summer. That’s been clear for some time. But will Jeremy Doku be one of them? For me, that appears unlikely at this stage but that situation could change if Doku does what more opportunities elsewhere. But since signing for Manchester City he has made 73 appearances and scored 12 goals and contributed 18 assists as per transfermarkt.com. So he regularly plays for Manchester City. It may be a topic that could further develop this summer but for now, I can’t see Jeremy Doku being a player who will leave the Etihad during the summer transfer window.
