Costa Rica, Guyana, Puerto Rico seek first wins in Women’s U-20 Championship

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship continues Sunday with the second round of encounters in Group A at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Each participating nation will strive to finish among the top two in their respective groups to advance to the Knockout Stage. Additionally, the four semifinalists will clinch a berth in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
Puerto Rico vs. United States
Puerto Rico and the United States will kick off the tournament’s fourth matchday, each in search of three points to advance their World Cup qualification hopes.
The U.S. started its campaign with an 8-nil win over Guyana. Izzy Engle took the spotlight with four goals while Kennedy Fuller earned a goal and an assist to continue her great run in Concacaf youth tournaments.
Puerto Rico played to a scoreless draw with Costa Rica to take the first win of its campaign. A good defensive effort helped Las Boricuas earn a clean sheet, with goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte providing 10 saves.
Guyana vs. Costa Rica
Hosts Costa Rica meet Guyana as both nations seek their first three points in the 2025 edition.
Guyana will seek to bounce back after a loss against the United States. Se-Hanna Mars led the way with two attempts and was the nation’s top scorer with three goals at the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Qualifiers.
Costa Rica will look to build on its first point of the season and get a win in front of its home public. Goalkeeper Valeria Fernández is one of the key players for Las Ticas, keeping a clean sheet in the nil-nil draw against Puerto Rico.
