The Villans will be the final visitors to The Chigwell Construction Stadium this season when they make the trip on Sunday.
West Ham United have enjoyed a record-breaking season on home soil while they are unbeaten in their last five games both home and away. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, West Ham United boss Skinner said that the aim is to continue that unbeaten run and send the fans home happy once again.
“It’ll be a really tough game,” Skinner said. “Both teams are obviously playing well and are in good form. The forwards of both teams have done exceptionally well recently as well.
“I think there will be goals in the game for sure. Obviously, we will want to manage the things that we can to make their life difficult. Being at home is such a big thing for us, so we want to keep our home form in a really good place with it being the last one of the season.
“They’ll want to upset the party but that’s just part of it. I think the game will be difficult for both teams but we want to come out still unbeaten.”
West Ham United were emphatic 7-1 winners at Crystal Palace last time out. Looking ahead to this weekend’s game, Skinner said that her side have retained a consistent mindset with the focus on continual improvement.
She said “We’ve had the same mentality all season. No matter what has happened, every game we take the positives and there are things we can work on because we want to continually improve. We are going to need to continually improve to stay consistent within the league because it’s one of the toughest leagues in the world and every week, someone presents you with a different challenge. If you sit on your heels and think you’ve cracked it because you scored seven goals then it’s probably only going to go one way the next game.
“Everybody has to stay sharp which is about being professional and being on your game, sticking to the plan. You then go out and perform week in, week out, taking it one game at a time. The next game is Villa, so we have to focus on that. They’ve obviously had a really good result against Arsenal, that’s important for us to take into account but also, to know that there are a lot of things that we’ve done really well that have enabled us to be successful in our recent run of form.”
West Ham United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Aston Villa kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are expected to be on-sale at The Chigwell Construction Stadium on matchday.
