According to Sébastien Denis, Columbus Crew manager Wilfried Nancy could soon return to Europe and undertake a job in Europe’s top 5 leagues. The French head coach masterminded the Ohio side to MLS Cup victory in 2023 and his achievements have evidently attracted interest from Europe’s premier competitions.

Columbus were crowned MLS Cup champions following a 2-1 victory against LAFC in the final yesterday. This defeat means that Denis Bouanga is now likely to return to Ligue 1 following 2 years in the US. Nancy was able to get one over on last season’s champions in the final.

Wilfried Nancy’s coaching career started in Canada with the Montréal Impact academy. The former Toulon player was then promoted to assistant coach within the club’s backroom staff in 2016 and served as an assistant alongside Thierry Henry in his time at the club. Nancy was promoted following the France U21 manager’s promotion in 2021 and then made the switch to Columbus Crew in December 2022.
