Cole Palmer shines in another cameo and will surely be used next week | OneFootball

It’s going to be another dire and negative week of news around Chelsea, so we’d like to try and scratch some positives from today’s defeat.

Cole Palmer was introduced in the second half and did more good things creatively than most of his teammates.

His one effort on goal was a little tame, but he certainly added something when he came on.

Some expected Palmer to start today anyway, and he has surely now shown enough off the bench to be trusted by Pochettino. The question is where he fits in. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are essentially too expensive to drop. Conor Gallagher has been good and is captaining the team. That means Palmer would have to play in the front 3, but Mykhailo Mudryk is doing alright and Raheem Sterling is one of the few experienced players.

Could we see Palmer used as a sort of false 9 next week with Nicolas Jackson suspended?
