AC Milan are looking to recruit in defence, with the area still showing signs of uncertainty, and it seems the Rossoneri are looking domestically.

The defensive situation at Milan has been a puzzling one for some time, and the club are once again heading into the mercato with a need to add defensive stability, whether that be via a starting option or improving depth.

Fikayo Tomori is set to depart, and there have been persistent rumours about the future of Strahinja Pavlovic and even Malick Thiaw, though both now line up as the club’s starting central defensive partnership.

Regardless of which area it aims to solve, a centre-back, imaginably will arrive in the summer months, and today, Calciomercato.com report that the club are looking to Venezia, where the idea of Jay Idzes is increasing in favour.

The 24-year-old defender is comfortable playing from the back, even if it is ‘not his best weapon’, and holds an impressive physique, which would align with the likes of Strahinja Pavlovic. Furthermore, he is comfortable playing as a left-sided defender in a back three, if the club were to trial that.

According to the report, Inter have already been watching the defender and begun contacts, whilst Atalanta also have taken a liking. However, the Diavolo are prepared to have a look themselves and could get involved soon.
