Leeds confirmed their place this evening after a 4-3 win over Millwall at Elland Road.

City v Leeds will be played on home soil with venue, date and time to be confirmed in due course.

We defeated Watford away 2-0 in the third round, West Ham away 2-0 in the fourth round, Reading 2-1 at home in the fifth round, Tottenham 2-1 at home in the quarter-finals before seeing off the Robins this week to make it through to face Rob Etherington’s side.

Leeds, two time winners of the competition in 1993 and 1997, are in the final for the first time since that second triumph where they saw off Crystal Palace 3-1 over two legs with a squad including Paul Robinson, Jonathan Woodgate, Harry Kewell and Alan Smith.

This year, they’ve seen off Norwich 2-0 away in the third round, Brighton 4-0 away in the fourth round, Sheffield United on penalties after a 1-1 draw away in the fifth round, Liverpool 3-1 at home in the quarter-finals before their victory tonight over the Lions to set up a decider against the Blues.

City have won the FA Youth Cup three times in our history – 1986, 2008 and 2020.

We beat neighbours Manchester United 3-1 over two legs in 1986 under the stewardship of Tony Book and featuring starlets Paul Lake, Steve Redmond, Ian Brightwell, Andy Hinchcliffe and David White.

City, including captain Ben Mee and Kieran Trippier, beat Chelsea 4-2 over two legs in 2008.

Goals from James McAtee, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer helped us see off Chelsea 3-2 during the COVID era in 2020, with the final a one-off match at St George’s Park.

We’ve been finalists 11 times in total, also finishing runners-up in 1979, 1980, 1989, 2006, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
