Tijuana - In a match that was sullied by controversial refereeing decisions that went directly to the scoreboard and changed the course of the match, Chivas failed to score points after losing to Xolos 4-2 this Friday night at the Estadio Caliente, in the second matchday of the Apertura 2024.
Guadalajara has no time to lament, as next week they will face 2 matches; the first this Tuesday against Gallos in Querétaro and the second on Saturday against Mazatlán at Akron Stadium.
Goals:- The home side took the lead at 25' when Joe Corona put in a low cross that crossed the box and Domingo Blanco appeared at the far post to cross.- The Caninos extended their lead at 63' with a header by Zúñiga. - Chivas got closer to the scoreboard at 68', when Cade Cowell shook off the marking of three defenders with an inside hook and then sent the ball into the net with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box.- At 85', the border team scored the third through a penalty kick.- Xolos increased their lead at 90' with Zúñiga's second goal of the night.- Armando González made the scoreboard more decorative and made his debut as the Red and White's goal scorer in the last play, after anticipating the goalkeeper on a filtered pass from Marín that he pushed into the goal.
The dangerous ones:- At 14', the 'Piojo' put in a search to the heart of the area, 'Chicharito' controlled the delivery with his back to the goal and then put the ball to the 'Charal', who without thinking twice took a line that hit the base of the right post and then flirted all the way across the goal line.- At 26', Hernández received the ball on the edge of the area and made a first-time pass to Gutiérrez, but his shot went over the goal.- At 44', 'Tiba' saved Joe Corona's shot inside the area on the goal line.- At 46', Chivas had tied the score after 'Chicharito' sent Cowell's second post cross into the net, but the VAR annulled the goal due to a very questionable offside.- At 52', Javier Hernández appeared again to send the ball into the goal with a shot from the front, but he was flagged offside.- At 58', 'Nene' sent 'Pocho' down the flank, who crossed to the penalty area where 'Piojo' was, but unfortunately crossed his right-footed shot too far.- At 78', Ricardo Marín escaped at full speed and when he reached the edge of the area, he unchecked his marker with a bicycle kick, but his attempt went wide.
