Chelsea youngster Bartel loaned to Atlético Madrid | OneFootball

Chelsea midfielder Júlia Bartel has joined Spanish finetwork Liga F club Atlético Madrid on loan for the 2025/2026 season.

Atlético Madrid announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 21-year-old midfielder joined Chelsea from Spanish giants FC Barcelona in summer 2024 but she has struggled to make her mark in South West London. Bartel has made just a couple of appearances for The Blues so far.

Bartel spent the second half of last season on loan with Liverpool where she got a much-needed run of games. She will now further her development this season back home in Spain with Atlético Madrid.

After joining Atlético Madrid, Bartel said “I’m very happy and proud of this new challenge. I’m eager to get started and I’m here with the goal of working hard to grow personally as a player, while also helping the team achieve its goals. The Atléti project is ideal for me to develop and compete at this current professional and personal level.”

Bartel remains under contract at parent club Chelsea until summer 2027. It is not known whether the player remains in head coach Sonia Bompastor’s long-term plans given the strong competition for places at the club.
