Chelsea are keen on signing Brighton & Hove Albion striker Joao Pedro and want to get the deal over the line before the Club World Cup, according to Ge Globo.
The Blues are reportedly willing to offer around £50 million for the Brazilian attacker. However, it is unclear if that sum will convince Brighton to sell.
Chelsea are in the market for a new forward, with Christopher Nkunku set to leave the club this summer.
Pedro has bagged ten goals and seven assists for Brighton this season and has been one of the key players in their push to secure European football.
However, it is hard to see why Chelsea are pursuing his signature. The 23-year-old is not the profile the Blues are currently missing.
Chelsea need a dominant striker with excellent box movement, and Pedro does not fit the bill.
The Blues have also had several disciplinary issues. They have picked up the most yellow cards in the Premier League this term, and it makes no sense to consider the combustible Pedro.
The former Watford star was only returning from a three-game ban for throwing an arm at Brentford defender Nathan Collins.
Pedro escaped red cards twice earlier this season against Brentford and Ipswich Town. He would add to the chaos at Stamford Bridge with this poor disciplinary record.
After seasons of misfires in the transfer market, fans were hoping for smarter signings, not more expensive experiments.
