Chelsea are ready to take their summer transfer spending beyond £200million after lining up a medical for Joao Pedro.
The Blues have agreed a £60million deal to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton and want him to be available for their Club World Cup quarter-final against Palmeiras on Saturday.
Joao Pedro is due to undergo a swift medical in America this week after flying from Brazil to the States on Sunday evening. He has signed a seven-year contract.
Chelsea will pay an initial £55m for the Brazilian forward plus £5m in add-ons.

They have also agreed a £55m deal to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
Joao Pedro scored 30 goals in 70 games during two years at Brighton, having joined the Seagulls for £30m move from Watford in 2023. He was also wanted by Newcastle.
Gittens cannot feature for Chelsea at the Club World Cup because he has already featured for Dortmund at the tournament.
Deals for Joao Pedro and Gittens will take Chelsea’s summer spending beyond £200m as they continue a recruitment drive ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
Chelsea have also signed Liam Delap for £30m, Dario Essugo for £18m, Estevao Willian for £29m and Mamadou Sarr for £12m.
The Blues are also attempting a summer clear-out of unwanted players, with Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka among those on their way out of the club.
