Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is on the verge of joining Serie A outfit Torino, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Casadei, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan, has had limited first-team opportunities since his €15 million move in 2022.
Either side of a stellar Under-20 World Cup campaign that saw him win the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards, he spent loan spells at Reading and Leicester City.
Casadei’s future at Chelsea has remained in doubt due to a lack of opportunities, and a return to his home country is now on the cards for the Italian.
Lazio and Torino were both linked with a move for the 22-year-old, but the latter are now set to complete a January deal after reaching an agreement with Chelsea last night.
Seeking to get his career back on track, Casadei will reportedly move to the Stadio Grande Torino on a permanent transfer worth €10-12m, although Chelsea will have a sell-on clause.
Torino are also close to completing the signing of Ejif Elmas from RB Leipzig on loan, while they are also in contact with Inter Milan over a deal for Tajon Buchanan.
Having snapped a five-game winless streak with a routine 2-0 victory over Cagliari on Friday, Torino have moved up to 11th in the Serie A table.
Their European pursuit has been seriously derailed over the last couple of months, but they will hope their new arrivals will help them surge back into contention.
If everything goes according to plan, Casadei could be in the squad for this weekend’s clash against Atalanta. They will be looking to win consecutive games for the first time since late August.
