Chelsea suffered one new casualty in their win over Fulham

Chelsea’s comeback win over Fulham was overshadowed slightly as Malo Gusto hobbled off the pitch with an apparent hamstring injury.

The Blues battled to a 1-2 win at Craven Cottage thanks to goals from Tyrique George and Pedro Neto, denying Fulham a first-ever league double over Chelsea.

Romeo Lavia returned to the squad for the first time since mid-March, but Enzo Maresca chose not to use him in the match.

Gusto was introduced in place of Reece James at half-time but would not complete the match after going down injured in the 89th minute. He had been dribbling under pressure from Adama Traore when he pulled up and was replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo.

Speaking at full-time, Enzo Maresca offered a grim prognosis: “For sure it is not a good one, a muscle problem.”

He will be assessed this week as Chelsea look to understand the full extent of the injury, but he may well miss next week’s home tie against Everton, and a Conference League semi-final trip to face Swedish side Djurgarden.

Potential return date: Unknown

Christopher Nkunku

The manager later confirmed the decision was simply technical, and that the Frenchman is uninjured.

Marc Guiu

Spanish striker Marc Guiu was injured on transfer deadline day in January, pulling his groin as he stretched to control a ball in Chelsea’s 2-1 league win over West Ham.

Earlier this month, Maresca confirmed he is progressing well in his recovery and could return soon.

Maresca said: “We have good news on Marc. From today, he looks quite good, much better, and he can be back before the season finishes.”

Potential return date: May 2025

Romeo Lavia

Newly released from the physio’s room is Romeo Lavia, who appeared in the matchday squad on Sunday for the first time since making an eight-minute cameo against Arsenal in March, though he did not feature.

He has shaken off his latest hamstring injury, which has been a persistent issue since he signed for the club from Southampton in 2023.

Wesley Fofana

The best Wesley Fofana can hope for this season is to return in time for the Club World Cup, though that may even be a stretch.

The Frenchman underwent surgery in early April on a hamstring injury, which Chelsea said in a club statement was required. He is undergoing rehabilitation at the Cobham training ground.

Potential return date: Summer 2025

Omari Kellyman

Omari Kellyman is yet to get going at Chelsea after signing from Aston Villa in September.

He has made just three appearances in PL2 since suffering a severe hamstring injury shortly after arriving at the club.

He posted a picture on Instagram in March of himself in a hospital bed, writing in the caption that he had undergone a successful surgery.

He wrote in an earlier post: “Beyond gutted to say that this season has come to an early end for me due to a reinjury of my hamstring.

“It’s important now that I take time to get this right and come out the other side stronger and better ready for what next season brings.”

Potential return date: Summer 2025
