Chelsea drop asking price for Christopher Nkunku transfer | OneFootball

Chelsea have reportedly dropped their asking price for Christopher Nkunku in a bid to sell the forward in the summer transfer window.

The France international has been a major disappointment since joining the Blues on a six-year contract from RB Leipzig for a £52 million fee in 2023.

Although Nkunku played a part in Chelsea‘s recent successes in the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, he has failed to make much of an impact in the Premier League, where he has registered just six goals and two assists over the past two seasons.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this year, with Fabrizio Romano even reporting in May that his departure was “guaranteed”.

Chelsea are evidently ready to cut ties, too, as The Athletic report that the club have slashed their own asking price by £22m. It’s claimed that they valued Nkunku at £65m in January, and that figure has now been cut to just over £43m.

It’s added that the former PSG player has “admirers” in the Premier League, Germany and Italy.

Bayern Munich are said to be interested in signing him, while Newcastle United have recently been linked with a move as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with Nkunku in the recent past, although both clubs have signed alternative options this summer.

Nkunku, who has four years left to run on his current contract, has struggled to nail down a starting place at Chelsea due to a combination of injuries and competition for places.

Over the past two years he has made 60 appearances in all competitions, but only started 25 times, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in that time.
