Lille are prepared to allow Jonathan David leave for a fee in the region of €25m (£21m) this summer amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham.

David is on the shortlist of several Premier League clubs in search of a striker and will be allowed to leave Lille in a cut-price deal after entering the final 12 months of his contract in France.

The Canada international has been a prolific presence since signing for Lille from Gent in 2020, having scored 84 goals in 183 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit.

David finished as runner-up to Kylian Mbappe as Ligue 1’s leading scorer in 2023-24 and is keen on a new challenge this summer, with a move to England ‘the most likely’ option for the 24-year-old, according to Sky Germany.

Lille have reluctantly accepted that the contract situations of David and Leny Yoro – whose deal also expires in 2025 – means the club will be forced to cash in on the highly-coveted duo.

A price tag between €20m and €25m (£16.8m and £21m) will be enough to sign David, who is currently representing Canada at the Copa America and scored the winner in his nation’s 1-0 win over Peru on June 25. He has scored 27 goals in 50 caps for the national team.

Chelsea and Manchester United are seeking competition for Nicolas Jackson and Rasmus Hojlund respectively at centre-forward, while West Ham and Tottenham have also made the signing of a number nine their focus for the transfer window.

Napoli have been linked with David amid doubts over the future of Victor Osimhen. The Italians signed Osimhen from Lille in 2020, with David arriving at the French side as the Nigerian’s replacement.
