Inter Milan needed a Herculean effort to get their Champions League first leg win against Bayern Munich over the line on Tuesday.

And that came at a cost to the Inter squad. The fixture list is already pushing the players to the limit of exhaustion.

As Tuttosport highlight, there were cramps for Matteo Darmian, starting his fourth match in two weeks.

And defender Francesco Acerbi lay on the bed in the dressing room at halftime.

Meanwhile, Alessandro Bastoni and Hakan Calhanoglu saw out the full ninety minutes. Despite having had to come off with knocks against Parma last Saturday.

And Inter’s job is only half done against Bayern. Already next Wednesday, there will be a massive second leg.

So the Nerazzurri coach must think about preserving the fitness of a number of players who are already at their limit.

Against Cagliari this weekend, the Gazzetta report that Benjamin Pavard will remain in the Inter starting eleven.

However, Stefan de Vrij and Yann Bisseck will take the place of Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni alongside him.

In midfield, meanwhile, Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani will come into the Inter lineup. One of Henrikh Mkhitaryan or Nicolo Barella will start alongside them.

On the left flank, Carlos Augusto will likely start. Federico Dimarco is ready to play, but not necessarily to come straight back into the eleven.

And at right-wingback, anticipates Tuttosport, Nicola Zalewski could start to give Matteo Darmian a breather.

Lastly, in attack, only one of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will likely start. The likes of Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa would be ready to bolster the attack in their absence.
