Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is coming to the end of his fourth season at the San Siro.

It has been a campaign full of ups and downs for the Nerazzurri.

Domestically, the lingering feeling is one of regret. A second place finish to Napoli in the league along with losses to AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia mean this is Inzaghi’s first season without domestic silverware.

However, Inter have flown high in the Champions League under the 49-year-old.

The Nerazzurri are in the final of Europe’s biggest club competition for the second time in three seasons.

Inter take on Paris Saint-Germain in that final next Saturday.

Inter Milan will also have to sort out the future of Inzaghi this summer.

The former Lazio coach is under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of next June.

In each of the last three summers, Inter have handed Inzaghi a one-year extension. And the expectation has been that they would do so once again this time around.

However, there have been some reports that Inter could offer the 49-year-old a longer-term deal.

This would be to reward the feat of reaching the Champions League. And potentially making a deep run at the Club World Cup this summer.

Meanwhile, Inter want to ward off interest from other clubs in Inzaghi – particularly Al-Hilal.

In any event, the Corriere report, the Champions League final will not be decisive as far as Inzaghi’s future.

Inter will make their assessments regarding their coach in due course. However, they are not going to base these very heavily on the result of the final next weekend.
