Celtic have set a surprisingly low price tag for Johnny Kenny. The youth striker returned to Celtic in January after a loan spell. English side Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a move after their opening £500k bid was knocked back.
However, as reported by Sun Sport, Celtic want just £1m for the Irish striker. The 22-year-old has shown glimpses of what he is capable of but it appears that Celtic are willing to let him go if the price is right.
Kenny was signed from Sligo Rovers in 2022, initially joining Celtic’s development side. A loan was facilitated back to the League of Ireland with Kenny joining Shamrock Rovers. With the Dublin side, Kenny impressed scoring 26 goals and assisting 8 times in 76 appearances. The striker showed himself to be a handful in the Europa Conference League.
Brendan Rodgers is clearly in the process of looking at his squad. Although, the manager might prefer putting Kenny out on loan to continue his development at a higher level.
A number of the Celtic first team returned to Lennoxtown on Friday and the manager will be assessing the players reporting for duty as pre-season begins. The expectation is that a number of players will be moved on this summer, especially those that spent the second half of last season on loan. However, there is always a chance that some players can work their way into the manager’s thinking.
