Celtic handed £8m transfer blow by Borussia Dortmund

Celtic have been linked with quite a few players ahead of the summer transfer window as it looks like the Hoops are aiming to strengthen Brendan Rodgers' squad significantly. One area they seem to be giving particular attention to is their midfield. But one of their rumoured targets is drawing attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Borussia Dortmund.

Celtic came up against Borussia Dortmund earlier this season in the Champions League and were handed a 7-1 defeat at Signal Iduna Park. Could the Bundesliga side hand them a blow off the pitch as well?

The player in question is none other than Lennon Miller. The Scottish midfielder has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Motherwell and that has caught the eye of Celtic. But they are not the only ones after his signature.

As reported by Not The Old Firm, it is believed a host of Bundesliga clubs are making a real push to land the outstanding Scottish talent. Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt are all interested in Miller, who is open to starting the next chapter of his career in Germany.

It is believed that Motherwell will be looking for a transfer fee north of £8 million for Miller. But that is no longer the only obstacle for Celtic, when it comes to signing the Scottish midfielder.

It is not hard to see why a move to the Bundesliga might be more attractive to someone like Miller than joining Celtic. In fact, one could argue that based on recent history, the German sides have a better record of developing talents than the Hoops.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Miller. But considering the amount and level of clubs interested in him, it is hard to see him end up at Celtic Park.
