Glasgow City opened the scoring in the opening few minutes through Hayley Lauder as the captain got on the end of an Emily Whelan pass, making no mistake tapping it home. Celtic almost hit  back immediately as Tash Flint tried her luck after dribbling inside, but her shot went  narrowly wide.

As the Ghirls kept pushing for the equaliser, Flint almost found it as her shot from inside the box struck the post. But it didn’t take long after that for us to draw level as a corner into the box was put into the back of the net by Caitlin Hayes, albeit with a slight deflection.

Lucy Ashworth-Clifford was putting in a shift on the wing as she kept trying to send it into the box. And in midfield, we were controlling the game well as Natalie Ross and Shen Mengyu were holding possession and fighting for any loose balls.

And on the brink of half-time, Hayes got her second of the game as she fired the Celts in front. Flint sent a good ball into the box and Hayes got low to meet it, heading it high into the top corner, with the keeper having no choice but to watch it fly past.

Going into the second half, Celtic looked good and were the better side. Elena Sadiku’s side  were defending set pieces well and creating numerous half-chances. Sadly, the hard work put in so far wouldn’t pay off as the visitors equalised just before the hour mark through Charlotte Wardlaw, as the Celtic defence got their bearings all wrong.

The Hoops were fighting hard for the three points as Flint tried her luck from the edge of the box. LAC kept trying to push for the goal that would put is in the lead with promising passes into the area. There was no-one to meet them on some occasions, and in others, City just defended our deliveries well.

Approaching full-time, a free kick was sent towards Hayes’ head but with it was overhit and Lee Gibson could comfortably collect. With six minutes of added time, we kept pushing up the park and with one minute left to play, Hayes sent a header towards goal, but Gibson made a big save to deny the defender.

That would prove to be our last chance of the game and it would end all square in Airdrie with a final scoreline of Celtic FC Women 2 Glasgow City 2.

In the other match theRangers beat Hearts 3-0 to go level on points with Celtic but we have a huge goal difference advantage. The sides meet on Monday afternoon at Cumbernauld with theRangers really needing to win that one, while a draw would be a decent enough result of for the Ghirls.
