Celtic brought back Jota in the winter transfer window after he had failed spells at Al-Ittihad and Rennes, having left Parkhead merely 18 months before his return. The Portuguese winger has come in and established himself as an important part of Brendan Rodgers' plans. And he is not the only one returning to Glasgow.
Kieran Tierney has already signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic. He will make a return to his boyhood club once his contract with Arsenal runs out in the summer. This is another move that will delight the fans.
Celtic have also been linked with a move to bring back Kyogo in recent times. It was in late January that he left the club but it already feels like a lifetime ago.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Andy Walker said on Go Radio while talking about Kyogo and a possible return to Celtic:
"If Kyogo was there (for the derby), then you would start him.“Would Celtic bring him back? They brought Jota back. They brought Kieran Tierney back. If they got a good business deal, I am sure they would be open for business.“One of the reasons would be that he has gone for a bigger salary. Would he get that here? Yeah maybe (if they were playing him). I think, when Celtic do business, they probably know what they want to do this coming summer when the manager will have his input as well."
The desire to play at the next World Cup for Japan was believed to be a driving factor behind Kyogo choosing to leave Celtic in the middle of the season in order to join Rennes of Ligue 1. But if there is any chance of him making it to football's biggest tournament, he needs to be playing regularly for his club side first, which he is not doing at the moment.
Kyogo has often found himself being left as an unused substitute. When he has played for Rennes, it has mostly been as a sub coming off the bench. So far, he has made only one start for them.
It is safe to say that things are not working out as he would have envisioned when he left Celtic in the winter. And there is already talk about him possibly leaving the club in the summer, with Rennes rumoured to be already eyeing replacements.
