Celtic face Livingston tomorrow in the Scottish Premiership. Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his focus is on the visit from David Martindale’s side but conceded that he will make changes with a view to Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League Playoff second leg against Kairat Almaty.
Cameron Carter-Vickers started in the 0-0 draw against Kairat and the USA Internationalist would certainly be in the category of players that are essential to have fit for next week. While he is not carrying a knock, there’s an argument that he shouldn’t be risked – especially with JSP on the bench.
The highly rated Manchester City defender joined Celtic on a season-long loan deal and it is expected that he will be in contention to start alongside CCV at some point. The manager has previously said that he will take some time to get up to speed and Saturday’s game represents an excellent opportunity for JSP.
Tony Ralston will come into the starting XI and you would expect that Kieran Tierney will start at left back. The former £25m export has been replaced around the hour mark in each game this season and that will likely continue at the weekend standing no direct fullback replacement being in the building. Colby Donovan will likely feature as Brendan looks for backup given the Alistair Johnston injury layoff. Although, the squad appears to be considerably lighter than the manager would want at this stage of the season.
