Castello Lukeba scouted by Liverpool for months ahead of a potential move | OneFootball

According to Lewis Steele, RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba (22) is a player that Liverpool have been scouting for several months with a view to recruiting the Frenchman to bolster their defensive options. The Premier League champions are looking to acquire the services of a young central defender during the summer transfer window.

Lukeba has been playing in the Bundesliga for two seasons and has long been linked with a move away from Eastern Germany this summer. The former Lyon defender has a release clause worth €90m in his contract with Leipzig, which would allow him to leave the Red Bull-owned club.

Quansah replacement?

The Reds are likely to be in the transfer window for a new centre-back after the departure of Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen. The England youth international has landed the Merseyside outfit a fee in the region of €40m, which is likely to be reinvested back into the squad.
