It is ‘feasible’ that Antonio Conte could return as Juventus coach, said his former assistant manager Massimo Carrera, who would also ‘immediately’ accept joining his staff in Turin.
Conte had great years at Juve both as a player and then as a coach from 2011 to 2014, before leaving to take the Italy job.
Although some were angry at his decision to join their arch-rivals Inter from 2019 to 2021, others would be more than happy to have him back on the bench in place of Max Allegri next season.
“I am not his agent, but I can say his return to the Bianconeri is feasible,” former assistant manager Carrera told TV Play.
“I think the fans of any team would be happy to have Conte on their bench. He is a winner. I am Antonio’s friend, but I know nothing about his future, other than he is a leader who gets players to follow him.”
Along with Juve, there have also been reports that Napoli and Milan are eager to snap up the free agent, who parted company with Tottenham Hotspur last term.
However, the concern is that when Conte takes over a team, he wants to form it to his own requirements, which means spending big on the transfer market.
“Like all coaches who want to win, he will draw up a list of players that he wants,” admits Carrera.
“He might prefer a squad suited to a 3-5-2, but can adapt to other teams too.”
Carrera worked with Conte at Juventus and with Italy before branching out on his own in 2016 at Spartak Moscow, AEK Athens and Bari. So if the call came, would he reunite with Conte in Turin?
“I would accept immediately.”
