The future of Carlo Ancelotti is the hottest topic in Real Madrid right now, with the Italian under pressure following a string of disappointing results.

Real Madrid are already out of the Champions League title while the team has been completely outplayed by Barcelona, their opponent in the Copa Del Rey final.

A potential defeat in the cup final could spell the last blow for Ancelotti, with Real Madrid already lining up Xabi Alonso as a potential replacement.

In the background, the Brazilian football federation has been lurking around, hoping to hire the Italian as the new head coach heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to journalists Jorge Picon and Rodra P, Brazil are optimistic that they will land Ancelotti by May, just after the end of La Liga.

That would allow him to be in charge for the upcoming international break, with Brazil facing Ecuador on June 6 and Paraguay on June 9. The CBF is eager to fast-track his appointment and begin preparations for the World Cup qualifiers.

Ancelotti is still under contract with Madrid until 2026, but all signs point to a mutual agreement to part ways—possibly after the Copa del Rey final.

Everyone at Real Madrid wants to ensure Ancelotti leaves on good terms – nothing like the unceremonious exit in 2015. He is, after all, the most successful coach in the club’s history in terms of trophies. Florentino Perez and the board hold great admiration for him.

Should Ancelotti step aside, Xabi Alonso is expected to be the man to replace him. The former midfielder has a gentleman’s agreement with Bayer Leverkusen and is seen as the ideal long-term successor.
