Cameroon football icon Samuel Eto’o has once again found himself at the center of corruption scandal shaking the country’s game with mounting questions over the future of the sport under his watch.

Legal Actions Against FECAFOOT

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo .. a coalition of Cameroonian players, represented by international lawyer Emmanuel Nsahlai has filed coordinated lawsuits against the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT and several official bodies.

The cases aim to address alleged financial & administrative irregularities.

Key Allegations

The accusations include Eto’o’s 22 month suspended prison sentence in Spain for tax fraud, claims of corruption, possible match fixing and alleged bribes linked to betting company.

Further reports suggest the mismanagement of 1.5 million dollar from friendly matches against Mexico, Russia and South Korea.

Governance Under Fire

FECAFOOT's also accused of silencing dissent, notably with the controversial 10 year suspension of executive member Guibai Gatama and of manipulating internal regulations to block independent candidates from elections.

These moves have intensified concerns over transparency and fair representation in Cameroonian football.

Lawyer’s Clarification

Nsahlai stressed the lawsuits aren't smear campaign against Eto’o’s playing legacy describing him as one of Africa’s greatest icons.

He said the legal effort seeks to "rescue the governance of Cameroonian football" & ensure values of integrity and fair play are upheld.
