Bruno Fernandes will be missing when Manchester United take on Newcastle United.
The final Premier League match of 2024 for both clubs on Monday night at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United captain red carded at Molineux on Thursday night, meaning he will be suspended against Newcastle United.
Bruno Fernandes picking up a first half yellow for a foul, then just after the break a second yellow for a late challenge.
It really baffles me how any club chooses to make somebody like him their captain. Man U eventually losing 2-0 at relegation fighters Wolves and the new Old Trafford boss having a nightmare, as they are looking worse than under Erik ten Hag!!
Newcastle United have had their own issues with players missing matches through suspension this season.
However, as well as dominating and beating Aston Villa 3-0 (should have been at least double that winning margin), two Newcastle players also took another big stride towards not picking up a one game ban for five yellow cards in the first half of the season.
Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schar are hanging in there on four yellow cards each. Joelinton and Trippier picking up dubious bookings today but thankfully neither of the other two. If they (Tonali and/or Schar) had, they would have missed Man U on Monday, which will be the 19th Premier League of the season for United.
So they will be available at Old Trafford, hopefully picking up a win BUT no bookings, so they will be available for Spurs away, which follows the Man U game.
After 18 Newcastle United matches in the Premier League this season, here is the situation with PL yellow cards..
The 2024/25 Premier League leaderboard for Newcastle United players and yellow cards:
6 Joelinton
5 Burn
4 Schar, Tonali
3 Hall, Bruno
2 Longstaff, Kelly, Pope, Willock, Jacob Murphy
1 Wilson, Gordon, Trippier
With yellow cards in Premier League matches, you get a one match ban for reaching five bookings inside the first 19 Premier League matches.
Looking beyond this halfway point and not picking up five bookings, you will then have Newcastle United players who end up with 10 yellow cards in Premier League matches, up to and including their team’s 32nd fixture, will serve a two match suspension in the competition. Joelinton now on six yellows, Dan Burn with five.
You then end up with a three game suspension if you manage to pick up 15 yellow cards in a Premier League season.
