MLS outfit San Jose Earthquakes are primed for new leadership after confirming the appointment of managerial dynamo Bruce Arena.
The five-time MLS Cup champion is set to arrive at the club in a dual role as both head coach as well as sporting director, per an official club announcement.
Arena has been outside of the managerial bubble since his resignation back in September of 2023 after being placed on administrative leave. This ultimately saw him investigated by MLS for "inappropriate and insensitive remarks."
The 73-year-old Brooklyn native was allowed to return to MLS only after meeting certain conditions as well as petitioning league chief Don Garber if he was to seek management opportunities moving forward.
Now having been given the all-clear, Arena is set to take up key positions at PayPal Park after being declared eligible back in December.
Arena will have his work cut out for him, however, after San Jose finished with the lowest points total (21) of any MLS side last season.
