Bristol City announce departure of experienced midfielder Furness | OneFootball

Bristol City midfielder Rachel Furness is leaving the club after spending the last 16 months at Ashton Gate.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The Northern Ireland international joined Bristol City from Liverpool in the January 2023 transfer window. Furness made 11 appearances for The Robins in the second half of last season as they secured promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League. The player has made a further nine top flight appearances in a Bristol City shirt this year in which she has scored one goal.

After her Bristol City departure was announced, Furness said “It’s been a privilege to play for Bristol City for the last season-and-a-half and I’ve made friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

“I want to thank the supporters for their incredible backing both on the road and at Ashton Gate and in return, I hope I’ve been able to help create some special memories for all of you.

“I know I’ll look back on this chapter of my career with great fondness and I wish my teammates, the staff, supporters and everyone associated with the club the very best of luck for the future.”

Furness will leave Bristol City after their final game of the season against Everton at Ashton Gate tomorrow.
