PSG midfielder Carlos Soler, who spent last season on loan at West Ham United, will not extend his stay in London beyond the original one-year agreement. Despite reported Premier League interest, Soler is set to return to Spain.
Soler joined West Ham last summer seeking regular playing time and a fresh start. The Hammers secured him on deadline day, fending off competition from multiple clubs.
In February, Claret and Hugh reported that West Ham were unlikely to trigger the purchase option in the loan deal. While the transfer fee—just under €20 million—wasn’t a barrier, Soler’s high wages made a permanent move too costly.

The Athletic reports that Soler is set to join Real Sociedad on a permanent deal worth €8 million. The Spanish club will acquire 50 percent of the player’s rights, with the move expected to be finalized in the coming hours after a medical and contract signing.
L’Équipe recently reported that Soler is edging closer to leaving PSG. Several Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the midfielder, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and an unnamed team joining Brighton & Hove Albion, who have long shown interest in the Spain international.
Villarreal were also expected to reignite their pursuit of Soler. However, it seems LaLiga rivals Real Sociedad have won this transfer race for the PSG misfit.
