Brighton: It would be crazy to turn down Juventus | OneFootball

Abi Brighton is officially a Juventus Women player. The American midfielder arrives on a contract until 30 June, 2027, and she has spoken for the first time as a Bianconere player.

“The people here are amazing - everybody has been so welcoming and warm, which has made the transition really easy. It’s still my first day, but everybody being so welcoming will make everything easier - so far, so good!”

WHY JUVENTUS?

“I’ve always wanted to play overseas and never really thought I’d get an opportunity like playing for Juventus, so when they came knocking it would have been crazy not to take it. With the club’s history, the style of play, it’s all great and something I look for in a club.

“I want to learn as much as I can. This is my first time in a professional setup - players and coaching staff - and being able to learn from the players here is a big opportunity and something I’m looking forward to.

“Everybody is at a very high level, but that’s very exciting because I’ll be able to learn a lot from everybody.”

Arriving in Europe straight out of college football in the United States, Brighton has a relatively low profile for most in Italy and Europe. So, what can we expect from her at Juventus?

“I’m a pretty technical player, I’m calm on the ball but at the same time - and maybe I learned this in university - I’m very physical, probably because of the league I played in. I’m a physical player and I’d like to think I’m good on the ball.

“My grandfather played baseball and wore 33, and my brother played football and wore it too, so of course I had to carry on the tradition.”
