Michael Kayode has signed a five-year deal with Brentford, with the club having an option to extend his contract by an additional 12 months.

Kayode began a half-season loan with the club from Fiorentina in January 2025, which has now been made permanent.

After an exciting first six months in west London, the 20-year-old has now extended his stay at the club until at least 2030.

On signing his new contract, the defender said: “I am so excited to extend my stay at Brentford. “I have felt so welcome from the first day I arrived at the club, thanks to my team-mates and the care the coaching staff have shown me. “I’ve wanted to play in the Premier League since I was a child and it’s been so good to do that here. “I can’t wait for more next season and beyond!”

Brentford director of football Phil Giles added: “Michael has been fantastic for us since he arrived in January, not only with regards to his performances, but also in terms of his personality and the energy he has brought to the training ground.

"It was an easy decision to make his transfer permanent this summer, and we look forward to seeing him back for pre-season in July.”

Kayode made his Brentford debut as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur, before making five further appearances off the bench.

The Italy Under-21s international was then named in Thomas Frank’s starting XI for the first time in the Bees’ 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, which saw him cement his place at right-back for the final six games of the campaign.

He played an influential role in Yoane Wissa’s equalising goal against Arsenal, clipping the ball to the back post for Nathan Collins, who headed to the goalscorer.

Kayode then registered his first assist in the 4-3 win over Manchester United, when he squared to Wissa, who found the back of the net again.

The defender’s long throw is also a key part of his game, something which has caused the opposition problems throughout his time at the club.
