Brentford have completed the signing of midfielder Antoni Milambo from Feyernood.
Milambo joins the Bees on a five-year deal, with an option for a further year, from the Eredivisie side.
The 20-year-old played 42 times in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and setting up a further eight.
Brentford’s recently appointed head coach Keith Andrews said: “Antoni has played a lot of football in the last 12 months and really shot to prominence.
“He’s had experience in the Eredivisie, Champions League and most recently the Under-21 Euros with the Netherlands.
“I love the way that Antoni takes the ball and drives; he has the ability to go past players and he’s a goal threat. He will complement the midfielders we have in the building.
“Now it’s just a case of getting him used to the intensity and rhythm of the Premier League and our own intensity levels. I am looking forward to working with him.”
His arrival is soon expected to be followed by the departure of midfielder Christian Norgaard, who is set to join Arsenal.
Speaking on Monday, Brentford’s director of football Phil Giles said when asked by Hayters about Norgaard’s impending move: “If he ends up leaving and going to a club that has more opportunities to win things than we do towards the end of his career then he’s more than earned it because he’s been an unbelievable player for us.
“Fantastic six years, great captain, and a brilliant person. Nothing’s done but it’s a strong possibility.”
Brentford will likely sign another holding midfielder following Norgaard’s expected departure, with the attack-minded Milambo not viewed as a like for like replacement.
“It’s a warm club and in the first meeting with them they gave me a very special feeling,” Milambo said.
“I think I can improve more.”
