Nottingham Forest are closing in on a £30 million double deal for Brazilian duo Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha from Botafogo.
The pair, a lively forward in Jesus and commanding centre-back Cunha, are set to undergo medicals later this month - likely after Botafogo wrap up their Club World Cup run.
Both players found the net in their 2-1 win over Seattle Sounders, but it was Jesus who made headlines again by scoring the only goal in a stunning 1-0 upset against Champions League holders PSG.
That result puts Botafogo, fresh off their 2024 Copa Libertadores triumph, on the verge of reaching the knockout stages. And Forest fans are already buzzing at what a talent like Jesus could bring to the Premier League.
Jesus left Brazil at 19 to join Shabab Al-Ahli in the UAE, where he built a strong reputation over four seasons. Botafogo snapped him up in early 2024, just before he became eligible to play for the UAE national team.
He’s not just a poacher - Jesus is a clever, mobile striker who drops wide, links play, and holds up the ball under pressure. His strength and technical ability make him a real handful, both in build-up and in front of goal.
Since joining Botafogo, he’s bagged 17 goals in 57 games and was a key figure in their 2024 double – lifting both the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian league title.
Internationally, he’s made waves too - starting four straight games as Brazil’s No.9 after his debut in October, despite the fierce competition up front.
With Botafogo flying high and Jesus in red-hot form, Forest’s move looks like a bold but potentially brilliant bit of business.
