Augusto has already done plenty to show why Inter signed him from Monza in the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old has proven to be far more than just a backup option for Federico Dimarco on the left flank.

Augusto’s versatility and workrate have allowed him to fill two positions at Inter. He can play at wingback, or on the left of the back three.

Augusto has given Inter tireless running and intensity down the left.

And the Brazilian has managed a few assists from the role.

Moreover, Augusto had already scored for Inter before this evening. He got on the scoresheet against Bologna in the Coppa Italia last season.

But one thing that Augusto hadn’t done is score in Serie A for the Nerazzurri,

Augusto had scored fairly prolifically for Monza. The timing of his runs into the penalty area made him a real threat.

However, the Brazilian has not necessarily shown that much in an Inter shirt.

This evening, however, Augusto finally found the back of the net in Serie A for Inter.

And the Brazilian couldn’t have been happier about it. “I was joking around with my teammates,” he said. “My goal finally arrived!”

“I’d scored in the Coppa Italia,” Augusto noted.

“But I also wanted to in Serie A.”

“I’m happy with the goal and with the result,” Augusto said.

“We know what we’re capable of,” he continued. “We approached the match very well.”

“It was tough at the start,” Augusto then said. “Then our quality came through, and we played a good match.”

“We played a difficult match in midweek,” Augusto noted. Inter lost 1-0 to Bayer Leverkusen last Tuesday in their first Champions League defeat of the season.

“It’s difficult after a loss. But that’s also why we have a strong group.”

“We showed how strong our group is,” the Brazilian said.

“We know that the next few months will be important for the title race.”

“We have to do well now, because we have a lot of matches right on the way,” Augusto said. “But we’re Inter, and we have to always play to win.”
