Carlos Augusto feels that anger over the Serie A title loss has to motivate Inter Milan in the Champions League final against PSG.
The Brazilian spoke to reporters at the Nerazzurri’s Open Media Day ahead of the final, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan had a bitter end to their domestic season.
Having already failed to win either the Supercoppa Italiana or Coppa Italiana, the Nerazzurri also suffered a disappointing finale in the league.
Having squandered opportunity after opportunity to go ahead of Napoli in the league table, Inter found themselves a point behind the Partenopei on the final day.
That was certainly below what Inter’s expectations were for the campaign. Particularly after their dominant title triumph last time around.
However, Inter hardly have time to dwell on any lingering bitterness and disappointment.
This coming weekend, the Nerazzurri take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
Victory in that match would certainly all but erase the disappointment that Inter feel from their domestic campaign.

“First of all,” said Inter wingback Carlos Augusto, “I’m very happy with what the group has done.”
“We’re Inter, and we have to always fight until the last match for a trophy,” he continued.
“Clearly, there’s anger from what happened with the Scudetto,” Augusto admitted.
“But we’re an experienced group. We know how to understand different situations.”
“We have to have anger,” Augusto said. “But that has to help motivate us.”
“It can’t be an obstacle,” the Brazilian argued.
“But we’re a group of extraordinary guys. We understand when it’s time to tune all that out and focus on the Champions League final.”
“Particularly because, if you win that, then what happened before it no longer matters.”
Meanwhile, Augusto noted that “at the start of the season, we said we wanted to win the league and go all the way in the Champions League.”
“We focused on it one match at a time. That makes the difference.”
“We’ve faced great teams,” Augusto said. “And now we have the final.”
“Over the last few weeks we’ve had the league,” the 26-year-old said. “And we were focused on that, because we had a chance to win it.”
“Now, we have this week. And we have to focus on this final which is, in my opinion, the most important match of the season.”
“It’s the most beautiful competition to watch,” said Carlos Augusto. “And to play it.”
“And it’s the most important trophy for clubs,” said the Inter wingback.
“So looking at my journey, and at the fact that a couple years ago I was in a Serie B playoff final against Pisa, and now I’m playing in the Champions League final, it’s extraordinary,” he reflected.
“I hope to keep going in this direction.”
