PSG and France international Bradley Barcola (22) is set to stay with the Champions League winners, according to a report from L’Equipe. The 22-year-old has seen his playing time decrease in the wake of PSG’s €70m move for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian international is Luis Enrique’s first choice to start on the left wing. Still, Barcola logged 21 goals and as many assists in 64 games this season.
The former Lyon product featured in more games (73) than any player in Europe’s top 5 leagues, taking into account his performances for France. Barcola joined PSG from Ligue 1 rivals Lyon two years ago in a €50m deal. At the time, the 22-year-old was seen as a promising Ligue 1 prospect. Now, he’s an established France international and an important part of a Champions League-winning team.
Barcola’s change in status has led PSG to hold preliminary talks regarding a contract extension with improved terms. Barcola’s profile and potential at a still young age make him an attractive target for major European clubs. Bayern Munich are reportedly very interested in making a move for the Lyon Academy product. Still, L’Equipe understands that in no circumstances would Barcola leave PSG this summer, as he could become one of the best-paid Parisiens.
