Oostende have had a difficult start to the Challenger Pro League campaign. The side, who are in desperate need of new ownership, are currently second bottom of Belgium’s second tier with one win from their opening 10 games. Oostende were relegated last season and are in danger of back to back poor campaigns.
However, they travelled to Eupen and appeared to put their poor league form behind them. On loan Club Brugge forward Daniel Perez opened the scoring after just four minutes, with young talent Mohamed Berte grabbing the second in the 77th minute. It went from bad to worse for Eupen when Jason Davidson was sent off late on. Eupen have performed well in the cup in recent years, but have now been knocked out in the Round of 32.
The Pandas are now free to focus on ensuring the remain out of the bottom four of the Pro League.
