Mike Tullberg made his debut in charge of Borussia Dortmund’s senior squad, hosting Werder Bremen. The two teams were side-by-side in the Bundesliga table, but Dortmund were coming off four consecutive losses and the sacking of their manager. In recent years, Werder Bremen has been a thorn in Dortmund’s side, and today, they have done more of the same.

The Black-and-Yellows started the match in a promising form, with creative attacking plays and organized runs. Their job was made difficult, however, first by the knee injury sustained by Felix Nmecha and then by Nico Schlotterbeck’s twenty-first-minute red card, reducing Dortmund to ten men for nearly seventy minutes plus stoppages.

Somehow, Borussia Dortmund took the lead through an impressive team goal, with a build-up from Ryerson to Gittens, back to Ryerson, and across the final third to Brandt, who controlled it to Guirassy. This goal was the most promising scene of the match.

Dortmund opened the second half by taking the lead further thanks to Marco Friedl's own goal. Despite being down a man, Borussia Dortmund seemed in control of this match until the double substitution of Gittens and Adeyemi for Beier and Duranville.

The team subsequently fell to the back foot, defending for much of the match’s remainder. Strikes from Leonardo Bittencourt and Marvin Duksch leveled the score, and the rest is history. So these are the player ratings from a disappointing 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen:
