Ayrton Costa (25) has signed for Argentinian giants Boca Juniors after struggling to make an impact at Royal Antwerp.
Costa settled in Belgium this summer, but just couldn’t make an impression at left-back. The defender eventually played 16 games, in which he ultimately received seven yellow cards.
The Quilmes-born Costa came through the ranks of Independiente and cemented himself as a regular after a brief loan to Platense. He made 54 league appearances for the club from the Estadio Libertadores de América before moving to Europe.
Upon returning to Argentina, the former Red Devil shared his feelings: “I am very happy. I am thrilled to be in the country; this is a significant step for me.”
The defender is expected to initially serve as the backup to Marcos Rojo.
