WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Blues this morning.
The 25-year-old stopper has spent the last three years with Birmingham City after joining the club from former second tier side Coventry United in summer 2022. Thomas has gone on to make the first-choice goalkeeping jersey her own with the player making 68 appearances for the Blues in all competitions. The keeper has played a hugely important role in Birmingham City continuously challenging for a long-awaited return to the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Thomas’ solid performances for both Birmingham City and England’s Under-23s side have caught the eye of national team head coach Sarina Wiegman. The player found herself on the fringes of the Lionesses’ senior squad last summer after being handed her first call-up.
If Birmingham City are to push hard for the Barclays WSL2 title again this term, they will need to be sharp at both ends of the pitch and having Thomas onboard for another year will help with maintaining their defensive stability.
Further Birmingham City squad news will be announced in due course.
