A whirlwind transfer saga has collapsed at the eleventh hour, with Nicolas Jackson's anticipated move to Bayern Munich abruptly terminating.
The deal, which had appeared all but certain, unravelled in a dramatic fashion on Saturday. The Senegalese international had even arrived in Germany and undergone a medical after prominent journalists like Fabrizio Romano had confirmed the agreement with his signature "Here we go."
However, in a stunning reversal, Chelsea issued an urgent directive for the striker to immediately return to London. The catalyst for this change of heart was a serious injury sustained by young forward Liam Delap during Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Fulham earlier in the day. Faced with a sudden shortage in attack, the London club pulled the plug on the loan departure.
This last-minute cancellation deals a significant blow to Bayern Munich's transfer strategy, leaving the German giants scrambling to identify and secure an alternative striker target with the window set to close in just 48 hours. Their plans have been further complicated by the recent departure of another target, Nick Woltemade, who completed a move to Newcastle United.
