The Women’s First Team start 2025 in the best possible way, with a clear 5-0 win over Olympique de Marseille in a friendly match.
The Bianconere put on a good performance at Vinovo, playing with intensity and quality, dominating the match from start to finish and showing excellent signs in view of the upcoming season’s commitments.
Juventus were incisive from the very start. After just two minutes, Barbara Bonansea finished a wonderful one-two with Cristiana Girelli with a precise right-footer and put the Bianconeri ahead. Marseille tried to react in the 21st minute with a curling shot by Leger that grazed the post, but it was an isolated episode in a one-sided first half.
Juventus continued to push: in the 14th minute Girelli attempted a shot following an assist from Alisha Lehmann, but the shot was central. Shortly after, Lehmann came close to doubling the lead with a header from Paulina Krumbiegel's cross, but the ball went just wide.
The second goal came in the 42nd minute: Arianna Caruso put a precise cross from a free kick into the box for Girelli, who beat the Marseille goalkeeper with a volley. It was not over yet: two minutes later, Bonansea served the ball to Lehmann, who put the third goal into the net, crowning a first half of great attacking quality for the Bianconere.
With ten changes at half-time, the Bianconere regained control of the match. The pace dropped, but Juventus continued to be dangerous. In the 64th minute, Lindsey Thomas secured the fourth after a back and forth in the box, while the icing on the cake came in the 68th minute: Lisa Boattin, always dangerous on set pieces, scored the final 5-0 with a perfect free kick that left the Marseille goalkeeper with no chance.
In the final minutes, Juventus controlled the advantage with maturity. Boattin had another attempt from a free kick in the 82nd minute, but the ball went high. The Bianconere controlled the game until the triple whistle, completing an impeccable performance.
“The aims for 2025? To give my best for the team, to continue to do well, whether it's by scoring or helping my teammates. I'm working hard, with the coach's advice, who asks me to beat the opposing defender and shoot: I'm very happy with my return, I would like to find even more consistency in the quality of my performances. As a team it wasn't easy to perform like we have that over the first half of the season: we want to continue like this, taking on opponents in the best way possible and scoring goals.”
“We've started working again, focusing well on physical recovery, in order to get off to a good start in 2025. I want to continue to play my role on the pitch in the best way possible, helping my teammates in every way so that we can get back to winning ways together: I'm working a lot on both the attacking and defensive phases, and I must say that I like this position a lot. Our season is positive, we are implementing our system well, we have laid important foundations during this phase of the season and we still have room for improvement.”
