Besiktas have made Liam Delap their first-choice striker candidate after growing tired of Southampton's lazy approach in handling a potential Onuachu deal.
You might agree to this, by now, Southampton fans have heard enough of forward Paul Onuachu's Turkish Super Lig links. Doesn't it feel like every time we blink, another Onuachu transfer update pops up?
But, the Turkish clubs remain persistent too, being strongly influenced by Onuachu's Trabzonspor loan spell last season.
Now, offloading him back to Turkey should have been the simplest solution for Southampton, but of course, they’ve done the opposite. Instead, all they have done is beat around the bush every time.
In fact, despite being called off for dodging the issue, Southampton's stance on Onuachu's sale remains unclear.
But, hey, even clubs have their limits. When patience runs out, they move on, and that's exactly what seems to be happening with Onuachu.
According to a recent Aspor report, Onuachu's known admirers Besiktas may have decided to move on from the Nigerian forward.
This is because the Turkish giants seem to have prioritised Ipswich's in-form striker Liam Delap's move. While it's still speculation, Delap, being younger and in better form, has become Besiktas' top priority.
Now, certainly, this news must've affected you, right? But, eventually, this feels deserved for what Southampton has been doing lately.
Well, if you realize this, Southampton is on course to repeat Kyle Walker-Peters' mistake with Onuachu.
Similar to Walker-Peters' case, the Saints delay their plans to renew his contract or sell him now, effectively tying him to the club until his contract expires. And given the way Onuachu is picking up form, he might only improve ahead.
So, what’s next? A year from now, Southampton fans could be looking back and regretting this indecision, seeing him leave for free.
Southampton still has time before the summer window closes, but if they don’t make a clear decision on Onuachu soon, history might just repeat itself.
