After securing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United will pursue a striker in this summer market.
United have been linked to numerous forwards but have been unable to strike a deal for Liam Delap or Viktor Gyokeres.
The Red Devils have scouted Sesko for a long time and showed an interest in the player before his transfer to Red Bull Leipzig in 2023.
Since, they have been frequently linked with a move for the six foot five (195cm) striker and it has been reported that Sesko would be open to a switch to Old Trafford even without Champions League football.
Reports in Germany suggest United may soon show their hand in the race as Absolut Fussball report that “the Red Devils have intensified their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko. After a move to Arsenal fell through, United are back in the running for the muscular attacker.”
It is claimed that the club have had the player on their radar since he was 16 years old and may choose now as the time to strike for the striker.
The report states that “United see Sesko as an athletic penalty-area striker with pace and aerial prowess (0.6 goals/90 minutes, 50% of aerial duels won). He combines athleticism with height and speed. Such a complete package is rare.”
United’s director of recruitment, Vivell, has links to Sesko’s current club Red Bull Leipzig, having worked there as a technical director only three years ago.
Absolut Fussball claim that Vivell is an “advantage” for United in negotiations as he spent a total of seven years in the Red Bull management positions at both Leipzig and Salzburg.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also highlighted the potential link Vivell could be between Sesko and United.
Speaking on the club’s interest in the striker he added, “Christopher Vivell knows Benjamin Sesko very well and that is why the interest internally is being discussed.”
He did stress that Sesko is just one name being mentioned at United right now and any signing would depend on what money can be raised from the sales of players like Jadon Sancho and Antony later in the window.
