Diogo Costa has emerged as a key target for Barcelona for the summer of 2025 as plans to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal in the long run take shape.
The 25-year-old Portuguese international is understood to be the top priority target for Barça director Deco, although his pursuit has been complicated by the Catalans’ financial situation.
On top of that, Costa was said to be attracting interest from clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich as well, further complicating matters.
Now, though, Barcelona could be facing one less competitor in the race for Costa as Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich are not pursuing the signing of the FC Porto goalkeeper.

Indeed, while the 25-year-old is one of the top shot-stoppers in Europe at this point, the Bavarian giants are not considering a move for him and the reports linking him to the club are wide of the mark.
As such, a transfer for him to Munich in the summer transfer window is considered unlikely, which would mean one club less for Barcelona to compete.
However, Costa’s valuation, said to be somewhere between €40-50 million, will still pose a significant challenge for the Blaugrana who will still be operating with a fairly tight budget again in the summer.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City, if they are indeed interested, would be much better positioned to meet Porto’s asking price for the goalkeeper.
As such, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona do press ahead with their pursuit of Costa or move for alternatives with other players like Mio Backhaus and Bart Verbruggen also on the agenda.
