The idea that Mason Mount could leave Chelsea this summer is well established. In fact, since January it’s felt quite likely to happen. The Blues are going to have to sell him this summer if they want to stand firm on their policy with players on expiring contracts.
So far the teams apparently interested have been Premier League heavy – mainly Arsenal and Liverpool. It makes sense that those sides would be interested, but one can also understand Chelsea preferring to sell abroad.
So the rumoured interest from Bayern Munich mentioned in the Evening Standard is worth thinking about. Chelsea would get a good fee, and Mount would get to go and link up with his old boss Thomas Tuchel. Playing in Munich is also pretty much a guarantee of domestic trophies, allowing Mount to spend his peak years adding to his collection of medals.
It’s a tough place to go and break into the team, but Mount would back himself.
