FC Bayern beat Wolfsburg 3-2 on Saturday to win their third match of 2025. Leon Goretzka put Bayern in front, with Mohammed Amoura soon levelling the scores, but Michael Olise restored Bayern's lead before half-time. Joshua Kimmich had a goal ruled out before Goretzka made it three for Bayern after the hour. Amoura pulled one back for the Wolves in the frantic closing stages, but Bayern went on to claim three points.
Bayern lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal and Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Alphonso Davies in a back four. Kimmich and Goretzka anchored a midfield featuring Leroy Sané, Olise and Kingsley Coman, with Harry Kane up front. Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala took over from Sané and Coman in the second half.
Munich got off to the better start and almost took an early lead when Sané's powerful drive crashed off the bar. Keeper Kamil Grabara denied Coman before Bayern had a good shout for a penalty waved aside when Kane was upended in the box, but Goretzka soon picked out the bottom corner from distance to put Bayern in front.
Grabara denied Davies and Kimmich fired over before Wolfsburg levelled from a free-kick routine as Amoura slotted past Neuer. Grabara proved equal to Olise's free-kick but was unable to keep out the Frenchman's effort four minutes later as the Bavarians retook the lead. Kane saw an effort deflected behind and Bayern had the ball in the net for a third time shortly before half-time, only for Kimmich's goal to be ruled out for handball on review.
The momentum stayed with Vincent Kompany's men after the restart, with Sané and Kane both putting headers wide. Grabara clawed away a Kimmich corner and Coman's cross, but Goretzka rounded off his brace when he headed home Olise's free-kick.
Coman soon raced onto a long ball and had only Grabara to beat but guided his effort wide. Kane fired over before Neuer denied Amoura at the other end. Goretzka hit another long-range effort over, but Wolfsburg pulled one back through Amoura, who found the far corner of the net following a turnover. The Wolves pushed for an equaliser in the closing minutes, although Gnabry soon saw a shot blocked. Konstantinos Koulierakis headed over a corner as Bayern saw out the storm and sealed a deserved victory.
The result means Bayern top the table on 45 points from 18 matches, seven clear of Bayer Leverkusen, who take on Borussia Mönchengladbach later on Saturday. The Bavarians will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face Feyenoord in the Champions League.
